mini pigs should of been 3:1 at most, 5 pigs for 1 is just not right. Look at the price for celestial pigs now and im guessing only the rich kids who could buy 5 pigs or even the celestial pig will only have them. My bf gave me 3 pigs he saved so i could get a celestial pig, now he has none :-( *feels guilty*
As for the rat, i had to buy him a rat....we opened a total of about 300 fortunes and not one rat appeared!!!! since, when you complete the event quests you only get roughly 50 fortunes, to of opened 300 and still not got a dam thing those arent fair odds. So grind fest again....again -_-

-Mini Celestial Pig. Collector takes 3 Mini pigs. Not 5. Why? It seems more reasonable. At the current rate pigs are at 20-30kish, making the celestial pig 100k+. 3 mini pig requirement would have lowered the demand slightly, increased supply slightly and perhaps brought the prices down to a reasonable amount for casual players. I think 30k for a celestial pig seems reasonable.
Three for one would have been more acceptable. However, I'm more in the 'leave the pigs alone' camp. If they were that bothered about a gold mini being so widespread just change it to a white one and be done with it. Then it's as common as all the white minis that'll start clogging up the servers more and more as characters have their birthdays. Five to one was lame, and only rewarded packrats and speculators who were hoping their pigs might bring them some plat at some point.

-Mini Celestial Rat. I like that we are told HOW to get a rat this year ahead of time.
Agree. Though the drop rate seemed to vary rather wildly.

-Mask. I would have modified last year's Nian mask slightly...just enough to make it different (like the two pumpkin helms). Doesnt have to be remade from scratch.
I seem to recall it being said that the mask would be available during the event, not during the finale. Nitpicking I know, but a lot of people thought that the reason the hat was being re-cycled was because it would be available to all throughout the event whether you 'were there' last time or not (personally I wasn't that interested, the Nian mask didn't do it for me last year and wasn't really bothered about getting a new one.

If it's going to drop at the end, then how is it different from any other hat? Given that, they should start allowing people access to previous hats they couldn't get either. Just because it's the same event doesn't mean it should have exactly the same hat. You could argue that every Wintersday hat should be the same if that was the case. Tradition is a BS reason, Cantha is fictional.

-Finale Event. I never liked how this finale required items from all over the place. The reward was never good. I think....they should ahve made it so...if you helped with at least 1 dish, you get the finale box of fireworks. Leechers would still get the mask, leechers would get the bags, but only people with ingredients would get the explosives. Meaning 1 complete ingredients set. I would have also removed Smoking Remains from the list. That sucks to farm.
I'm not too sure I'd change anything about the finale. Sure there's leeching, but making a district wide event gives an opportunity for some community participation, as shown by the generosity of Guilds who sponsored districts. Oh, though I do think they should remove ingrediants that necessitate you doing RoF missions. Fiery Crests are pretty easy, but the rest of it? Jeez.
I'm pretty 'meh' on the fireworks. I don't have a guildhall so they're bugger all use to me but I don't think it's a good idea to let people set them off willy nilly in towns.

-Beetle racing. We need a new map. We need better rules. We need to make it harder to cheat. I dont know what i would do though.
No idea, I don't bother with it.

1. Mini Pig. Fine, whatever...

2. Mini Rat. Definitely handled better.

3. Hat. This probably peeves me the most. Hell - I don't even care if they changed the hat, but I'd at least like to know that I had one from the 2007 festival and the 2008 festival. If they'd just give a different name, at least I'd have a souvenir from both. As a result, the 2008 festival will just be a faded memory...

4. Firework Crate. Love the idea, I just wish it was useable in towns.

5. Rollerbeetle Racing. Remove the powerups and have rotating maps. That would remove any ability of someone to cheat or use questionable tactics.

And make the collector permanent so we can trade in our fungal wallows throughout the year.

2: hat - change the appearance. Re-using old hat means lots of complaints in future about wanting old hats

3: rats - put them in the red bags instead of the fortunes and even out the drop rate somehow. I got five with very few fortunes while others got none after going through a thousand. And putting them in fortunes makes them get used up in the festival instead of saved for blessed aura use in pve like they were intended. The red bags just make more sense.
QFT! lol, how many more wallows do I have to get untill I finally get a cool mini? My rarest mini ever was Shiro, the rest was all white, and lot's of the same ones... Wallows, Necrids, Jades and Thornwolfs... *sigh* I've had about 3 of each!!! Try selling those.. You can't! And all I want is to never get the same one twice, or thrice perhaps. One double mini I can trade or sell, but 2 or more... sheesh...
Back ontopic though: 3 pigs for 1 celestial / announce recipies a month or more upfront / new mask (nian mask?) / rats in red bags, because the PvE bonusses from the fortunes were just used up to get a rat now, instead of actually used in PvE.
Things I loved: Fireworks crates for guild halls!!! *kisses Anet* Finally ^^
Party Animal title! great! although waaaay too late (could have nearly maxxed that one if it had been around since halloween 2005)...

The Rat would have been obtainable, if I ran the Festival, so that everyone would have gotten one. I probably would have made a quest where you have to: 1) win at 9 rings, 2) win at 16 rings, 3) launch a pig, 4) get drunk with two other people, 5) get a sugar rush, 6) do Fire in the Sky, 7) win at Dragon's Nest, 8) win at Dragonball Arena, 9) place in top three in Rollerbeetle, 10) be at the finale.

- Finale:
* Change ingredientes to trophies from level 0..19 creatures that can be found in all campaigns: Ascalon, Northern Shiverpeaks, Kryta, Maguuma, Shing Jea, Kaineng, Istan and Kourna only. And NEVER from creatures inside missions.
* Add the Chefs in Kaineng 5 days before the new year to tell people about the ingredients they will need. After those 5 days, they move to Shing Jea.
* Only people that give at least one ingredient get the top reward (crates in this case), the rest get only bags and mask.
* Each person can give only one ingredient in each occurrence of the event, so if you bring 50 of the same type you can't change them all for Lunar Tokens in the same one.
* Ingredients can be given anytime, with a dialog you can choose wich ingredient to give, so if you lag or you could not enter soon enough you can give them anyways. Chefs have an Exclamation icon over their heads if you have no ingredients for them and an arrow icon over their heads if you have one, nothing if you brough them all the ingredients.
* Rain of assigned gifts while the Celestial Animal runs around like in other events.

- Beetle Racing:
* Beetles start with all skills disabled until the first Checkpoint.
* A new map with a different setting to cycle with the other. Probably Kournan. Beettles love Kournan setting.

- Colectors:
* One that give celestial rats in exchange for 250 Lunar Fortunes or 250 Red Gift bags. You lose gold, items and th chance to get more than one miniature to get a sure one.
* Celestial Pig: 1 pig = 1 Celestial Pig. And done. Nothing else. Most people trashed or gave aways his pigs.

- Quests: One for Prophecies and one for EotN. 25 tokens each one.
